New iTunes released (4.7)
BTW, the new iPod Photo blows. The screen is too small to be a good photo viewer and it doesn't even come with a memory card reader slot to off-load photos on-the-go. If you are going to call it iPod Photo (as opposed to just iPod Color), then the photo part of the device had better live up to its name. It's quite unlike Jobs to introduce such a half-assed product. What ever happened to making the world's best something-or-other as he likes to call all his products?

New NYC streetlight design chosen
Uh, I don't think so. Hopefully it looks better when it's realized. Not that the other two finalists are any better, though.

Why the Zagat Survey sucks

Skype to offer video, as well
I can't wait, as MSN Messenger's webcam support stinks. A lot of times it just doesn't work. And if you're not using Skype, go download it right now. I actually prefer it to regular phones now. Believe it or not, it has even better voice quality than landlines.

$750 off of a Dell laptop
Probably won't last, so act fast if you are looking to buy a Dell laptop cheap. I prefer ThinkPads myself, but they are expensive.

Funny NYTimes article about the closing of Kim's on Avenue A
But isn't this like ancient history? What ever happened to reporting the "news" as in stuff that happened yesterday, not "mid-summer" (when the Avenue A Kim's closed).

The 100USD Philly cheesesteak
I'm really tired of restaurants pricing simple foods into the stratosphere as marketing ploy. I can accept it more if it's from a world-class chef (like a Daniel Boulud or Jean-Georges Vongerichten, etc) wanting to try using more esoteric ingredients to re-invent a dish...

Skinning Gmail with a custom stylesheet
Sweet hack.

The iPod had an 82 percent share of the market in U.S. retail stores in the 12 months ended in August
Up from 64 percent in the same period a year earlier, and 33 percent two years ago. Seems every other person on the streets in NYC has one. I haven't seen that many iPods here in Asia, not even in Tokyo. At least I haven't seen many people with the trademark white earbuds.

Cat show at MSG this weekend
Obviously, I won't be able to go... but let me know how it is. Any Scottish Folds? Are they cute?

I'm going to try this hotel next time in London
Claims the inspiration partly came from Japanese capsule hotels... I've stayed in capsule hotels, and this is nowhere near what a capsule hotel is like. Still, it looks nice and I want to try it.

Why is Google News still in beta after three years?

NY Times article about area code portability
Nothing interesting about that, that's old news. But I liked this nugget of information: "212 remains the area code to get in the country. Only about 1,000 phone numbers with this area code are available at any given moment."
